Orange Shirt Day

Yesterday we talked about Orange Shirt Day, what it means and the lasting impact it has had and continues to have on the generations of Indigenous Peoples. Through discussion, Gr.6's recognize and understand the importance of continuing to share what happened in the residential schools and how our focus as a community should be education, compassion and reconciliation.


As a follow up activity we talked about how children should feel when they are at school. This is some of what our Gr.6's came up with:


Students then chose one word to describe how children should feel at school and decorated a feather. So, together with Mr. Graitson's and Mr. Viotto's class we created this bulletin board to share our ideas and feelings with the rest of St. Gabe.
